2 tablespoons water
1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
4 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until the mixture becomes smooth. Set it aside.
- Place a saucepan over medium heat and combine the soy sauce, sugar, mirin, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Cook the mixture while stirring until it begins to simmer.
