Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 ¼ pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 3 cloves garlic, halved
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 cups frozen mixed vegetables
- ¾ cup beef broth
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ¾ cup light sour cream
- ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
How to Make
- Boil potatoes and garlic in a large pot of water until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Stir in flour, mixed vegetables, beef broth, ketchup, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 5 minutes until thickened.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a casserole dish.
- Mash the drained potatoes with sour cream and half of the Cheddar cheese until smooth.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef mixture, sealing the edges.
- Sprinkle with the remaining Cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crisp.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
