Scallops Recipe
This scallops recipe delivers restaurant quality results in just minutes. Golden brown on the outside and tender inside, these pan seared sea scallops are finished with a simple garlic basil butter for incredible flavor. Ingredients
- 12 large sea scallops, about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 pounds
- 2 teaspoons all purpose flour, optional
- Salt to taste
- Fresh ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil or vegetable oil
Garlic Basil Butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 3 to 4 lemon slices
Directions
- Pat the scallops very dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- Lightly dust one side of the scallops with flour if using, then season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a wide skillet over medium high heat and add the oil. Allow the oil to become hot and shimmering.
- Place the scallops in the skillet seasoned side down. Cook without moving them for about 2 minutes until a golden crust forms.
- While the first side cooks, dust the top side lightly with flour and season with salt and pepper.
- Flip the scallops carefully and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.
- Add butter and minced garlic to the pan, swirling as the butter melts.
- Remove from heat and stir in fresh basil leaves and lemon slices.
- Serve immediately while warm.
