Ingredients
- 3 cups raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, plus more as needed
- 7 ounces fresh horseradish, grated or roughly chopped
- 7 ounces fresh ginger, grated or roughly chopped
- 2 ounces fresh turmeric, grated or roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 10 garlic cloves, crushed or chopped
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1 orange, sliced
- 2 to 3 jalapeño peppers, sliced
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 6 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns (optional)
- ½ cup raw honey, or more to taste
Directions
- Add the horseradish, ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic, lemon, orange, jalapeños, rosemary, thyme, cinnamon sticks, and peppercorns to a large glass jar.
- Pour the raw apple cider vinegar into the jar until all of the ingredients are completely submerged.
- Place a piece of parchment paper under the lid or use a non-metal lid before sealing the jar.
- Shake the jar well to combine the ingredients.
- Store the jar in a cool, dark place for 3 to 4 weeks.
- Shake the jar once each day to keep the ingredients evenly infused.
- After the infusion period, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container.
- Press the solids gently to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Stir in the raw honey until fully dissolved, adding more if you prefer a sweeter flavor.
- Transfer the finished fire cider to clean, airtight glass bottles or jars.
- Refrigerate or store in a cool place until ready to use.
