Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 2 green onions, chopped (white and light green parts separated from dark green parts)
  • ¼ yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon Korean red pepper flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 ½ pounds beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Directions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, chopped white and light green parts of green onions, sliced yellow onion, sugar, garlic, sesame seeds, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, ginger, and black pepper.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss until all pieces are evenly coated.
  • Cover the bowl and marinate the beef in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
  • Heat a wok or large skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the marinated beef in batches, stirring frequently until the meat is fully cooked and tender.
  • Add honey while cooking to help caramelize the beef and enhance the flavor.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes until the beef is nicely browned and cooked through.
  • Garnish with the dark green parts of the chopped green onions before serving.
