Biscuits and Gravy Recipe
Biscuits and gravy is a classic American breakfast featuring fluffy buttermilk biscuits smothered in rich, creamy sausage gravy. Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) can refrigerated jumbo buttermilk biscuits
- 1 (9.6-ounce) package Jimmy Dean® Original Hearty Pork Sausage Crumbles
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ cups milk
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
1. Prepare Biscuits
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange biscuits 1–2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 13–15 minutes until golden brown.
2. Cook Sausage
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until fully browned, stirring frequently, about 5–6 minutes.
3. Make Gravy
Stir in flour until fully combined with the sausage. Gradually add milk, stirring continuously until gravy thickens and comes to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Serve
Split biscuits in half and place 2 halves on each plate. Top with about 1/3 cup of sausage gravy per serving. Serve hot.
