Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ cup milk
- ¾ cup German dark beer
- 2 teaspoons stone-ground mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup freshly grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon crushed Aleppo chile peppers, optional
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Gather all the ingredients.
- Melt the butter in a heavy saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour until smooth.
- Continue whisking while gradually pouring in the milk.
- Whisk in the beer and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
