- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1½ cups white sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 12-cup or 16-cup muffin pan with paper liners.

- In another mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix just until the batter is smooth and no dry streaks remain.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about halfway.
- Bake for 15 to 17 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
