How are you doing on these challenges?
This is the 10th week of Verse by Verse. Here’s how it goes:

Once a month we’ll post a new verse with a background. The point of this is to inspire verse memorization. One of the most meaningful things we can do for our soul is memorize. (I’m preaching to myself!) These verses will be used by the Spirit when you need encouragement and wisdom. We also want to read your thoughts. Please post any reflections below in the comments. Whether that’s just a couple sentences or a link to a blog post- we want to hear it!

This weeks verse comes from the first letter to the Thessalonians. This Church needed encouragement from Paul, just as we do today! This passage in chapter 2 focuses on the missionaries (Paul, Silvanus, Timothy and probably others) who previously visited Thesalonica. Read the whole chapter (or the whole book!) because it gives a good guideline on how to live in Christ. For now, join us in memorizing this verse:

But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to lease God who tests our hearts.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 (ESV).
