I don’t watch much scripted television. The tv’s in my house only turn to three stations; ESPN (the husband), Disney Junior (the daughter) and HGTV. However, over the last eleven seasons, I have faithfully watched Grey’s Anatomy. What never ceases to amaze me is how they manage to make the most difficult and seemingly unbelievable medical cases seem like a routine walk in the park. At some point during the surgery there are some complications, but in the end, it all works out.
A patient comes in with some rare condition that no one else in the country is capable of handling. They take them into surgery and perform a few medical miracles and the patient lives. It’s not always a happy ending, but when it is, the process is extraordinary to watch. What everyone else called a lost cause, an incurable condition; the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital seem to have a solution.
For those of us not living in Shondaland, Jesus is our Grey Sloan. He is the world class neuro, cardio, plastics, pediatric, orthopedic, general surgeon that we have all been searching for. Every case is a walk in the park for him. When the world say we are hopeless, he gives us hope. When the world says we can’t be saved, he saves us. When the world struggles to understand us, he has the answers. God is the king of miracles. There is not a case that he can’t solve or a complication he can’t overcome. God specializes in everything.

Neuro: He is the God of peace who can ease your troubled mind. Philippians 4:6
Cardio: He is the God of love who can mend your broken heart. 1 John 4:8
Plastics: He is perfect, and it doesn’t matter how flawed we are; he is able to make us perfect. Matthew 5:48
Pediatric: He knew us before we were born, he formed us in our mother’s womb. Jeremiah 1:5
Orthopedic: He is a God of restoration. Our brokenness is no match for his healing power. Jeremiah 30:17
General Surgery: He is the alpha and the omega; the beginning and the end. He is God of all. He is with us daily; ready and willing to handle anything we may face.
Television is often a dramatized version of real life. While the doctors at Grey Sloan may have unbelievable successes; they also have catastrophic failures. Sometimes they are not able to avoid the complications and sometimes they cannot overcome them. Thankfully, when you enter God’s hospital, you can rest knowing He has never failed. So yes, there were complications, but who is your doctor?
