Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil

For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce (or Sriracha)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds, divided

For Garnish:

  • 2 green onions, sliced

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add the chicken pieces and toss until evenly coated.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook the chicken in batches until lightly golden and nearly cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per batch.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds.
  • Return all the cooked chicken to the skillet and pour the sauce over it.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and stir until the chicken is evenly coated.
  • Simmer for 2–3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Sprinkle with the remaining sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
