Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt (Optional)
- 3 pounds prime rib roast, ribs removed and trussed onto roast, or more to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a rack inside a roasting pan.
- In a small bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill weed, black pepper, and salt.
- Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire roast, including the ribs.
- Place the roast rib-side down on the rack in the roasting pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- Turn off the oven and leave the roast inside for 3 hours. Do not open the oven door during this time.
- After 3 hours, turn the oven back on to 375°F (190°C).
- Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (65°C), about 30 minutes more.
- Remove the roast from the oven and allow it to rest briefly before slicing.
- Slice and serve warm.
