Ingredients
- 12 large eggs
- 1 onion, sliced into rings
- 1 cup distilled white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 10 cloves garlic, peeled
- ΒΌ cup white sugar
Directions
- Place the eggs in a medium saucepan and cover them with cold water.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then immediately remove the pan from the heat.
- Cover the saucepan and let the eggs stand in the hot water for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Transfer the eggs to cold water until completely cooled, then peel them.
- Arrange the peeled eggs and onion rings in a clean 1-quart glass jar.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, garlic cloves, and sugar.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove the brine from the heat and allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.
- Carefully pour the cooled vinegar mixture over the eggs, making sure they are completely covered.
- Seal the jar tightly with a lid and refrigerate for at least 1 week before serving to allow the flavours to develop.
