Ingredients
- 1 pound flank steak, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 large green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
Directions
- Place the flank steak pieces and cornstarch in a resealable plastic bag and shake well to coat the beef evenly. Let the coated steak rest for about 10 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the coated steak and cook while stirring until the beef is evenly browned, about 2 to 4 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked beef to a slow cooker.
- Add sliced onion, minced garlic, green onions, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, minced ginger, and hoisin sauce to the slow cooker.
- Stir the ingredients gently to combine.
- Cover and cook on the low setting for about 4 hours until the beef becomes tender and the sauce thickens.
