Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato purée
- 1 cup water
- 1 can chopped green chile peppers
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped onion and garlic until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it is fully browned, breaking it apart while cooking.
- Transfer the cooked beef mixture into a slow cooker.
- Add kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato purée, water, and chopped green chile peppers to the slow cooker.
