Ingredients

  • 2 cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato purée
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can chopped green chile peppers
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped onion and garlic until the onion becomes soft and translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until it is fully browned, breaking it apart while cooking.
  • Transfer the cooked beef mixture into a slow cooker.
  • Add kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato purée, water, and chopped green chile peppers to the slow cooker.
  • Stir in chili powder, salt, cumin, and black pepper until everything is well combined.
