Ingredients
- 4 large Yukon Gold potatoes, quartered
- 6 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon herbes de Provence
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 ½ cups frozen peas
Directions
- Gather all the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
- Place the potatoes in a pot and cover with salted water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and mash them with 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then set aside.
- Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, herbes de Provence, and nutmeg. Cook and stir until the beef is lightly browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes.
- Spread the cooked beef evenly in the prepared pie plate.
- Add the frozen peas in an even layer over the beef, then spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the peas.
- Dot the top of the mashed potatoes with the remaining butter.
- Bake uncovered for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pie is heated through.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
