Bolognese Recipe

This bolognese recipe is rich, hearty, and ideal for busy weeknights without sacrificing comfort or flavor. Inspired by traditional spaghetti bolognese, it delivers a deeply satisfying meat sauce in much less time than long-simmered versions. Made with ground beef and pork, aromatic vegetables, and a touch of cream, it balances classic taste with everyday ease.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 3 ribs celery, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely minced
  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar store-bought marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 pound pasta (pappardelle, tagliatelle, or spaghetti), cooked
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Directions

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add carrot, celery, and onion, and cook until softened and fragrant, about 4 minutes. Add ground beef and ground pork, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until fully browned, about 8 minutes. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, about 30 minutes. Stir in heavy cream and remove from heat. Serve over cooked pasta and finish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
