Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons vanilla sugar
- 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
- 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3 ½ tablespoons water
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter.
- Mix the brown sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a small bowl.
- Layer about one-third of the sliced apples in the prepared baking dish, then sprinkle with one-third of the sugar mixture.
- Repeat the apple and sugar layers two more times until all the ingredients are used.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Pour the water over the apples and continue baking for about 15 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
