Failure to Launch Christianity

The more I walk with Christ, the more I love people.  Over the years, I’ve asked God to help me see people how He sees them and change my heart to be one that loves.  Because God is faithful, he has opened my eyes to something I’ve noticed in the church.

I’m officially calling it “Failure to Launch Christianity.”  This syndrome is the main motivator behind how and why I serve in Christ’s church.  Victims of Failure to Launch Christianity suffer from feelings of inadequacy, fear, comparing and is coupled with physical and spiritual exhaustion.

These ladies love the Lord, serve their families, churches, and communities well.   These ladies are my friends, and I love them. They have so much potential to do great things for God, but they feel stuck and useless.  In my observations, they aren’t stuck as much as they are….. still.

Does this sound like anyone you know?  Does this sound like you?

One thing that is becoming clearer to me than ever is each and every one of us are image bearers of God.  That means we each have the opportunity to teach the world something about who God is! God is complex, and people are hungry to know Him.

launching nowThis is exactly why Satan uses his lies to keep you from launching.  This is exactly why Satan wants to keep you still and quiet.

Picture a catapult launching something through the air. It is a power force that moves quickly, and it’s hard to stop once it’s launched.  When you decide to take the step of faith and begin to be obedient to your calling laid before you by Christ Jesus, you are a powerful force being used in the Kingdom of Heaven!

Don’t confuse this action with adding another “service” to your list.  This launching is an action of the heart and mind and begins with awareness.  Realize that Satan is using fear to fail you from launching into the life Christ has designed for you.

Be aware that God wants to use you to teach someone about His character. We all carry pieces of Him as image bearers of Christ.

Pray Ephesians 1:17-19 over life:

“keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.  Pray that the eyes of your hear may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints and his incomparable great power for all who believe.”

I pray you LAUNCH in Jesus name!

So let’s get practical. What have you been prompted to do lately that you keep putting off? Maybe it’s as easy as a phone call, or leading a small group, or actually joining one!  Maybe it’s apologizing to someone, or volunteering at a school, or writing a blog!

I don’t know what the Lord has put on your heart, but most women I speak with have “something” they’ve been stewing around with and have failed to begin doing it.  May this lovingly be the Boost that gets you to launch.

“Jesus doesn’t say, Go; you’re ready.  He says, Go; I’ll go with you.” –John Ortberg

He is with us; even we don’t feel ready! Yes, we are daughters of the King, but let our boldness birth from the fact we have a King! This King loves us, provides ways for us, opens doors for us, and never ever, leaves us.

“I eagerly expect and hope that I will be in no way ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body.” Philippians 1: 20

Let’s be bold and courageous and refuse to allow fear and failure to keep us still.  What is holding you back from launching today?

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for going before us and preparing a way.  Thank you for Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  Help us to be brave enough to take steps of faith.  Help us to see you for who are and let your love for us be our safety net.  Help us to remember that you will give us sufficient courage when we need it. Thank you God for all that you do.

In your Holy Name,

Amen
